Liberate Technologies will train system integrators and administrators of its TV Platform software via its new certification program. Part of Liberate's education services unit, the program trains students to install, administer, provision and troubleshoot the company's software.

Liberate says it covers two tracks — the Liberate Platform Certified Administrator and the Liberate Platform Certified Integrator. The programs are taught in modules and lab exercises, using industry standard set-top boxes, UNIX and Windows NT servers.

No skate-through course, Liberate says its certification requires written and practical tests at the end of each module and after the course.

Modules include those in configuration and installation, system administration, provisioning, and diagnosis and maintenance.

Pilot courses start in October and regular classes are expected to start before the end of the year.

A Liberate spokesman could not be reached by CEDaily's deadline.
