Cabletron spinoff Enterasys Networks Inc. says it's added two new workgroup switches to its Vertical Horizon line. The VH-2402-L3 is a wire-speed fixed configuration Layer 3 Ethernet switch with 24 RJ45 ports of wire-speed 10/100BaseTX connectivity and one option slot for 100BaseSX/LX or 1,000BaseT uplink modules. The VH-8TX1MF is an 8-port 10/100 switch with a multimode fiber uplink for multidwelling units. It also offers convergence support with configurable priority queuing according to IEEE 802.1p standards. …

Lucent Technologies promoted John Kritzmacher senior VP and corporate controller. Kritzmacher was VP of Lucnet's financial planning division and replaces Mark White. …

iDirect landed $150 million in contracts for its high-speed router solutions in its first quarter of commercial availability, it says. The deals will support system integrators and network operators in Africa, the Americas, Eastern and Western Europe and the Middle East. IDirect says it will provide its NetModem II Broadband router to satellite system integrators, plus services. …

Ameritech Michigan President Gail Torreano would like to see a Michigan Broadband Summit to find ways to expand the technology in the state. In a letter to telecom and cable providers, Torreano suggested Sept. 27 as the day to take on issues holding back deployment, including rights-of-way. …

The Video Services Forum is issuing a call for speakers for the VidTranS 2002 conference and exhibition to be held at the Hilton Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Fla., March 3 through 6. Interested parties should submit proposals covering an educational approach to and analysis of current and future technologies and applications for video connectivity and transport solutions.
