Agilent/Corning to market parallel optics
Thu, 08/02/2001 - 8:00pm
Agilent Technologies Inc. and Corning Cable Systems will jointly market and support parallel-optics solutions with their other products, the two report.
The companies' mutual customers will get access to Corning's passive optical technologies and Agilet's active parallel-optics modules.
Parallel optics targets high-density interconnects for terabit switches and routers, server-to-server backplane interconnects, and Sonet/SDH OC-192 very short reach connections, the duo says.
Agilent has a 30 Gbps parallel optics solution that combines 12 2.5 Gbps channels into discrete transmitter and receiver modules, it says. The results allows a maximum aggregate data rate of 30 Gbps.
