OpenTV's software was deployed via USA Media Group's ITV package in Half Moon Bay, Calif., allowing 29 interactive applications over Motorola's DCT-2000 set tops, the company reports.
OpenTV says the package includes e-mail, instant messaging, shopping, nine different games, news, weather and sports. OpenTV CEO James Ackerman says the development demonstrates that there is the ability to "squeeze enough power out of the DCT 2000 to deploy a broad suite of interactive content that includes all the major elements of a mature ITV solution."
Games include Static's Playjam from USA Media Group, as well as Nutz and Headfunk. OpenTV says viewers can also order pizza, shop for CDs, get weather and stock quotes, look up local movie listings, scout a local dining guide or events calendar, and pick up a daily horoscope.
