Several well-known names in the industry will team on a fiber-to-the-home technology designed to run over Optical Solutions Inc.'s FiberPath 400 system.

The system allows multiple end-users to receive real-time broadcast video content over an IP transport, Optical reports. The switched digital video also will provide interactive guides and menus for navigating the ITV and VOD.

FiberPath 400 is a voice, video and data platform supporting IP streaming video, up to 100 Mbps, "hundreds" of channels of digital and analog cable TV, and telephony service, Optical says.

Under the deal, Harmonic will supply its MPEG-2 VoIP headend; Myrio will contribute customer software, middleware and backoffice platforms; Hitachi will pitch in its GR2000 gigabit router; Pace will supply its DSL4000 digital home gateway; and Motorola will add its Streamaster multimedia set-top system.
