Com21 launched Network Management and Provisioning System 4.0 for its ComUnity Access System.
The software is designed to provision ATM-based cable modems in half the normal time, Com21 says. It also has tools for such network management functions as fault, configuration and performance management.
A spokesman could not be reached by CEDaily's deadline.
The release comes on the heels of the company's revised guidance for the second quarter. Expected revenue of $33 million to $34 million is lower than it previously anticipated, but is higher than last quarter's $32.8 million, it says. Com21 had first-quarter pro forma net losses of $17.8 million, or 70 cents a share. Second-quarter results will be announced July 19.
Despite a soft DOCSIS market, the company's DOCSIS business grew modestly this quarter, it says, and the ComUnity ATM system "experienced sustained growth in the second quarter," driven by European and Asian demand.
