Next week, Scientific-Atlanta Inc. will launch "InView," an ITV information application that works on the Explorer set-top platform. The first content will be provided by ScreamingMedia.
The product is intended to provide a 24-hour, on-demand channel for interactive access to news, information and entertainment, S-A reports.
Likewise, the product was designed to support multiple content providers and give operators control over the content, S-A says, adding that InView will let operators customize with local content to match local preferences.
The first release, slated for this summer, will supply 12 personalization options for screen graphics to use on cable information channels. Each graphic can be modified to include the cable system's logo, S-A says.
The product also provides information on demand, a TV focus, national and local content, TV viewing while accessing information and access via a set-top remote.
ScreamingMedia, the product's first content provider, will bundle SiteWare, its aggregation and integration platform for third-party content, into InView. The intent is to develop a customized content package from 3,000 brand-name sources, with the option of adding more as needed, S-A says.
