Teligent's new chair abruptly resigns
Teligent Inc.'s new chair resigned over the weekend after less than a month on the job.
Teligent spokeswoman Tita Thompson could not comment on why Howard Jonas resigned, nor could she say if there was a replacement. The board will replace Jonas over time, she says.
Jonas, who took the Teligent helm April 30, also is chair and CEO of IDT Corp., which purchased Liberty Media's 37 percent share in Teligent last month. Shortly after, former CEO and Chair Alex J. Mandl stepped down and IDT's Jonas took over as chair, while another IDT alum, Yoav Krill, took over as Teligent's CEO.
IDT spokesman Gil Nielsen would not comment on why Jonas left Teligent, but says Jonas will remain chair and CEO of IDT.
Thompson says Teligent is conducting business as usual and moving forward with its restructuring.
Teligent filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last week.
