Motorola Inc.'s Broadband Communications sector and Astrolink International LLC will jointly provide a two-way data communications service over satellite modems.
Under the agreement, Motorola will supply business customer-premises terminals for transmitting and receiving broadband data signals from Astrolink's satellite telecom system, the two report.
Motorola also will design, develop and manufacture the terminals for Astrolink's targeted customers, regardless of company size.
The system also will provide broadband on demand, for which Astrolink will offer interactive services, including high-speed Internet connectivity and Private Corporate Data Networkss, supported by its Geostationery Earth Orbit technology, Motorola reports.
Motorola will deploy the terminals starting in 2003.
Astrolink is owned by Liberty Media, Lockheed Martin Global Telecommunications, Telespazio and TRW.
