Lucent combines units, replaces CFO
Out with the old, it appears. Lucent Technologies' CFO Deborah Hopkins will pursue other opportunities and will be replaced by Frank D'Amelio. The company also combined its Switching Solutions and InterNetworking Systems Group units and assigned Janet Davidson to head it.
D'Amelio was group president of the Switching Solutions Group and once was DFO of Lucent's Network Systems business, Lucent reports. D'Amelio also helped establish Lucent's financial structure when the company was launched in 1996.
Davidson was Lucent's group president of InterNetworking Systems. In her new position, she'll oversee next-generation softswitch platforms, the IP services platform and network operations software. Her oversight of the switching and high-growth segments of the broadband and mobile Internet infrastructure markets will include ATM and frame relay switching, VoIP, remote access, DSL services and terabit routing.
No word on where Hopkins will go other than to spend time with her children before deciding what to do next, Lucent reports.
