Optical Solutions Inc. has partnered with Corning Inc. to accelerate acceptance of fiber-to-the-home. Under the agreement, Corning will provide passive optical network (PON) infrastructure components and solutions, while Optical Solutions will reciprocate with FTTH system information.
While deploying fiber and optical, the two will combine resources in marketing, training and support to develop and serve mutual customers. The idea is to drive down costs by combining their products, thus driving up adoption rates. Efforts will include defining, qualifying, testing and deploying new access products, and developing and refining access network architectures and topologies, Corning reports.
Optical Solutions provides fiber optic voice, video and high-speed data directly to the home. Corning Inc. manufactures optical fiber and cable.
