Islanders get broadband network
Broadband data communications provider Teleste and RiverDelta have finished their joint project to create a multi-service digital broadband network for Isle of Wight Cable and Telephone.
Teleste contributed its digital headend, fiber nodes and amplifiers and integrated it with RiverDelta's broadband service router.
Isle of Wight's new network manages voice, video and data services for 44,000 homes and 5,500 businesses on the island, which is part of the United Kingdom. Some of the services the users can take advantage of are digital TV, pay-per-view, telephony service and broadband Internet service.
Teleste, based in Finland, will maintain the network for Isle of Wight Cable and Telephone.
