Optical networking start-up Wave7 Optics has some new digs. The company is opening the ASIC/FPGA Center of Excellence in Tampa, Fla. The center is aimed at developing field programmable gate arrays (FPGA) and application specific integrated circuits (ASIC) for key components of the Wave7 Optics product suite, including IP packet engines that combine with off-the-shelf switching devices to create Ethernet access solutions.
"The enhanced capabilities of the ASIC/FPGA Center will prove crucial to the evolution of the next generation network we are developing," said Tom Tighe, president and CEO, in a statement. "The expertise of the engineering team we have assembled will enable us to meet our aggressive schedules for system roll-out."
Wave7 Optics develops technology for fiber-to-the-home and -business (FTTX) optical access systems for video, high-speed data and telephony signals.
