Nearly a dozen Alpha Powernodes located about 30 miles from the epicenter of the recent Pacific Northwest earthquake survived undamaged and fully operational, according to the company. Alpha attributes the Powernodes coming through intact to the sturdy design of both its power electronics and enclosure systems.

The day following the 6.8 magnitude earthquake, inspections revealed no structural or other damage to the broadband powernode installations that are scheduled to go live soon. These installations will provide network power to an HFC broadband network in the final stages of deployment in the area where the earthquake occurred.

The company says that many additional Alpha power installations throughout the extended region performed equally well during the recent earthquake, keeping communication systems and emergency response networks up and operational.

Alpha Technologies provides a line of power protection products for the telecommunications and cable television industries, including custom, application-specific power solutions and field installation services.
