Commerce.TV and Adelphia Communications Corp. have reached an agreement to deploy interactive television services to Adelphia's digital cable subscribers. In addition, Adelphia has made an equity investment in Commerce.TV.
Adelphia will initially deploy Commerce.TV services to digital cable subscribers as part of its standard digital TV package by the end of 2001. Adelphia eventually plans to roll out Commerce.TV's Enhanced TV service to most of its digital cable subscribers nationwide.
"We see interactive television as an integral part of our future service mix, and we're committed to deploying new interactive capabilities to our subscribers," says John Rigas, founder and CEO of Adelphia.
"Adelphia selected Commerce.TV based not only on our proven technology, but based on our knowledge of the interactive television market," says Matt Kay, founder and president of Commerce.TV.
There is no additional cost to viewers, who need only a digital cable box and a remote control in order to access Commerce.TV's interactive services.
