The engineers over at Quantum Bridge Communications have also been busy improving upon its Optical Access System product. The system unifies service providers access networks at the metro edge, improving network efficiency. The new features include ATM networking, ATM/TDM gateway, and dedicated high bandwidth services.

Advanced TelCom Group (ATG), a facilities-based integrated communications provider (ICP) headquartered in Santa Rosa, Calif., is among Quantum Bridge's current customers and trial partners who are evaluating the latest release of the Quantum Bridge Optical Access System.

"ATM networking allows us to reduce redundant costs in the network, while the voice gateway functionality helps us improve efficiency throughout the network by grooming various traffic types to accommodate their unique characteristics," said Curt Wheeling, co-founder and Chief Technology Officer at ATG, in a statement.
