Infrastructure software maker Portal Software has inked a deal with Helsinki Television (HTV), a Finnish cable television company, to use Infranet, Portal Software's customer management and billing platform. HTV will use Infranet to manage its portfolio of broadband Internet services, manage revenue, and improve customer satisfaction.

"We will be offering our customers a variety of value-based pricing models with rich content and varied services delivered straight to the home," said Heikki Hanninen, vice president of Helsinki Television. "Portal's Infranet will help us to deliver advanced cable services such as digital and interactive TV in the future, and charge customers according to the value they perceive that service to hold."

With Infranet, HTV's consumers can choose whatever broadband cable services they want at any time and pay only for the services they've selected. Portal Software says Infranet offers customer interaction that is currently unavailable in cable TV subscriber management systems.

Infranet's real-time architecture provides a range of capabilities for advanced cable services, including the development and provisioning of service offerings and subscriber activity tracking, rating, billing and analysis.
