WorldGate subscribers will soon have better online shopping opportunities. Commerce.TV 's data processing network, CoreTVnet, will contribute its t-commerce features to WorldGate subs using advanced digital set-top boxes.

The combination of Commerce.TV and WorldGate services is expected to spark subscriber interest even further in online shopping and pump up cable operators' revenue streams.

WorldGate subscribers will be able to link to the Internet on their television sets and shop using Commerce.TV's CoreTVnet services. Existing i-TV solutions, such as WorldGate's Channel HyperLinking, already allow WorldGate's subscribers to interact with television advertising and programming at the touch of a button on their wireless keyboard or remote control. But now, for the real shopaholics, the product selection stretches to over one million items to choose from. And customers can view their order status, items, including colors and sizes, on their TV screens.

``We look forward to working closely together to provide consumers with a fast, simple, and secure method of shopping directly through their cable TV,'' says Hal Krisbergh, chairman and CEO, WorldGate.

WorldGate's interactive television applications, which include e-mail, chat, interactive advertising, and enhanced TV services, operate on current generation digital set-top boxes like Motorola's DCT-2000 and Scientific Atlanta's Explorer 2000.

Combining WorldGate's applications with Commerce.TV's CoreTVnet should be complete by summer 2001. The service will be available on the Motorola DCT-2000 as well as other ``thin-client'' digital set-top platforms.
