Pitch me, babe

Lots of couch potatoes sit in front of the TV and ask their glowing screens, "Where'd you get that stupid idea?" Now for all you channel surfers who think you can do better, here's your chance. Interactive TV Pitch, an event sponsored by Microsoft TV, gives those who have what they think are brilliant interactive television show ideas, 60 seconds to pitch their concepts to a panel of industry decision makers. The tables are then turned and the panel gets two minutes to put the contestant through the ringer with questions about their idea.

The event will take place at NATPE, the National Association of Television Program Executives conference, Jan. 22 to 25 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Only registered attendees are eligible to take part in the competition and prescreening for the lucky 15 will take place on Jan. 23, 4 p.m., at the Hilton Hotel, Ballroom B. Comedienne Tracey Ullman will emcee.

"Microsoft is constantly looking for ways to support the creation and development of new and exciting interactive and enhanced TV programming to support the entire industry," said Paul Mitchell, senior group manager for Microsoft TV, in a statement.

The four judges will be looking for, of course, use of interactivity, good use of TV, feasibility (no Jetsons era ideas - the concept must be possible now), snazzy delivery of the pitch, high concept and mega revenue potential.
