Following a pattern that several other MSOs have this year, Mediacom has purchased systems totaling 14,000 subscribers from AT&T Broadband, better arranging its system clusters. The deal is valued at $34 million.

Mediacom bought operations located in and around Fairhope, Ala., which are next to the company 's existing southern-region systems. It is the MSO's ninth acquisition, all taking place in 2000. Mediacom systems pass approximately 1.2 million homes and have 777,000 subscribers in 22 states. Mediacom acquires and develops cable television systems serving principally non-metropolitan markets in the United States.

Adelphia, Comcast and AT&T Broadband have also traded or purchased various systems within the last month to better arrange their clusters and provide services more efficiently.
