Celerity 's new set-tops have a partner in Tvia 's streaming media gateway. The set-tops, called the T 6000, use slots for a smartcard reader, wireless or wired keyboard, network interface modules and a port for USB-connected peripherals. Tvia's CyberPro2010 streaming media processor adds the full functionality and real-time video processing needed for set-top versatility required by media hungry customers today.

For example, the T 6000 not only lets a hotel guest surf the Web and order movies, the guest can also order the room's coffee maker to turn on and brew a fresh pot and set hotel room security sensors, all from the TV screen.

It's not just media junkies demanding more from their gadgets, it's those who want them to perform chores as well.
