Video-on-Demand is the name of the product as well as the technology. Bryan Media Group has finished development of its new technology that lets consumers watch full-length films on their computers.

If you're interested in sitting at your desk for a couple of hours, instead of sinking into the couch, the service will be available online in 1Q 2001. Users will need to have windows Media Player or Real Player - cheaper and easier to install than a set-top. The movies, which can be paused, have crisp resolution at full screen and digital audio.

Bryan Media Group is looking into strategic partnerships to increase market penetration.

"We are negotiating with several companies now. We are hoping to license the product to a partner and maintain it for them," Bryan Media Group CEO Steven Chanen told CED magazine. "Pricing would be comparable to video rental or pay-per-view."

Titles that will be available for viewing are approximately the same as those available now, in both video and DVD formats.

"In developing this product we realized there are a few things the customer needs," Chanen said. "They don't want to buy expensive equipment to watch a movie; today's world is so fast-paced, consumers want to just sit and click; there are no late fees with our technology; you can rewind and pause and pick up where you left off, and this product is set into a letter box format and allows the customer to go full screen."
