Cisco has released the uRB10012, the latest in its line of Universal Broadband Router cable modem termination systems.

The uBR100012 increases intelligence at the edge of the network, enabling more new services over the network. It is currently the only platform providing unlimited scalability.

"The uBR100012 is good for the customer - Cisco is providing even more headroom for them, product manager Nicos Achilleoudis told CED. "A couple of years from now, this will allow cable operators to scale to increased capacities with a lot less space. Cisco customers can get as high a penetration rate as they want, with as many services as they want and won't have any scaling issues or fear of running out of space."

The uBR10012 can be ordered in December 2000 and will ship in January 2001.
