Adelphia makes eyes at Wink

Adelphia 's Buffalo, N.Y., subscribers will soon be getting Wink Enhanced Broadcasting and the Wink Response Network as a standard digital cable feature, beginning this quarter, with Adelphia expecting to deliver Wink to most of its interactive digital customers as early as mid-2001.

"With Wink, we can provide our digital customers a free, proven, interactive television service as part of the great package we already offer," said John Rigas, founder and CEO of Adelphia, in a statement. "Our customers can trust that we will continue to upgrade our systems and deliver new technologies, such as Wink's services, creating an unmatched viewing experience."

Adelphia has also completed its buyout of Cablevision's Cleveland, Ohio area cable systems.

Adelphia, the sixth-largest MSO, has 5.6 million subscribers and offers traditional cable programming, digital television, high-speed Internet access and long distance phone service.
