Smaller business customers need security too, so Time Warner is sharpening its focus on small and medium business market needs. The MSO will deploy new business services using Cisco commercial cable networking technology. Companies in the Tampa, Fla., region will be able to snap up remote Internet access, VPNs and firewalls from TW.

Small- and medium-sized ventures are an expanding sector in need of security and other services, beyond what a cable modem can provide. Time Warner will use Cisco's uBR9000 cable access router series to provide advanced security and higher levels of business connectivity. Cisco's uBR924 is the first DOCSIS-certified cable modem with integrated VOIP ports.
