Multi-unit provisioning gets Cisco nod
Cisco acquires CAISsoft high-speed Internet provisioning/management software for $170 million
Cisco Systems has agreed to buy CAIS Software from CAIS Internet for $170 million in cash and Cisco stock.
CAIS Software offers software applications for companies to manage high-speed Internet services in hotels, apartments, airports and office buildings.
The business is expected to complement Cisco's DSL, Ethernet, cable and wireless network services.
Cisco said it expects to record a charge of up to 1 cent a share for purchased in-process research and development of the 65-employee CAIS unit. The deal is expected to close in the second quarter of 2001.
