Microsoft's Ultimate TV

Big daddy Microsoft has finally priced its new TV-based product so the must-haves among us can price it into our consumer spending/debt budgets.

For only $9.95 a month, all suburbanites, and some urbane wannabes, can subscribe to UltimateTV and receive 35 hours of digital video recording, interactive TV and three hours of Internet access. For big spenders, $14.95 will get you your own compatible ISP, such as MSN (imagine that!). Subscribers can also get DIRECTV programming, but that costs even more.

Microsoft is pushing this as a delightfully bundled package of DVR, interactive TV, Internet access and DIRECTV programming for one low price. If Microsoft has a big seller here, maybe they can invest in security against hackers…
