MSO signs $40M deal for optical metro networks

Sorrento Networks is entering into an agreement with Cox Communications to provide optical transport nationwide, with immediate initial installations in Virginia, California, Arizona and Louisiana.

The four-year contract enables installation of Sorrento Networks' GigaMux metropolitan DWDM system and electronic photonic concentrators throughout Cox's networks. Sorrento Networks' optical software will allow Cox to deliver broadband capabilities in these locations more efficiently.

Sorrento Networks' GigaMux is an optical transport product capable of multiplying the capacity of new and existing fiber optic networks by a factor of 64 times.
