Pixstream bumps up its video networking by partnering with Wsnet

Cable operators are about to see some new competition. Pixstream will take on Wsnet 's complete digital content package to deliver over 200 channels of TV entertainment to Pixstream's service providers.

"We're ecstatic to be working with Wsnet," Dave Caputo, vice president of marketing for Pixstream, told CED. "Wsnet provides one of the answers to the content questions the telephone companies have: how to get content to their networks."

The PixStream system consists of complete video headends that allow service providers to offer competitive converged services over their existing networks. The system is used to assist phone companies who want to compete with cable TV companies to deliver television entertainment over existing phone networks.

Wsnet provides PixStream customers with broadcast quality digital programming, enabling these service providers to introduce new digital video services more efficiently. Wsnet offers channels ranging from basic to premium multiplexes to pay-per-view.

Pixstream has global deployments including Canada, Europe, Asia and the U.S.
