Good fortune for Concurrent
Beijing Fengtai Cable, located in the People's Republic of China, has chosen Concurrent to provide VOD and other interactive services to its 350,000 subscribers. Beijing Fengtai Cable is one of four district networks owned by the Beijing Cable Group, which has approximately four million subscribers throughout the city.
Concurrent's MediaHawk system will provide VOD via IP streaming using a Gigabit Ethernet network. The Chinese subscribers will use their digital set-top boxes or personal computers to order digital movies or other content on demand, and be able to control them with VCR like functionality.
Concurrent has already deployed its first VOD system at Oceanic Cable in Hawaii, and has other VOD and e-commerce trials in Singapore, Tampa Bay, San Diego and Phoenix.
