A sea of legal battles
In just one of several intellectual property rights battles being fought, a Delaware jury has found that nCube did infringe on SeaChange's video-server patent. (See below for an update on the Intel/Broadcom squabble.)
SeaChange said it would ask the court to issue a permanent injunction against nCUBE's MediaCUBE-4 video server, which is used to provide video-on-demand services. SeaChange plans to seek damage payments from nCUBE.
nCube said it would be able to alter the MediaCUBE-4, without affecting any of its features to comply with the judgement. nCube has recently won the contract to supply Blockbuster's and Enron's planned video-on-demand venture,
Privately held nCUBE's majority owner is Oracle chairman Larry Ellison, who is advancing on Microsoft chair Bill Gates' position as the wealthiest man in the world.
