Time Warner Cable posted a blog and video yesterday about how the cable operator overcomes the frequency noise that is associated with Fleet Week in New York City.

With Navy and Coast Guard ships, along with various military-related aircraft, on hand during the Fleet Week New York event, Time Warner Cable ran into problems with the service-related frequencies that were impacting its satellite feeds in New York City.

The end result for consumers was freezing, blocking and tiling on their TVs and a whole mess of phone calls to the cable operator’s customer service reps. After several attempts at using other satellite video feeds in the area, Time Warner Cable solved the problem by routing feeds from Albany and Syracuse over its IP network.

Larry Pestana, Time Warner Cable’s vice president of field engineering operations in New York City, explained the problem and solution in a video.
