BroadbandPlus - The New Western Show has redefined itself -- shedding its regional appeal to represent the industry as whole. The national show, which will spotlight how broadband technology has impacted the cable industry, has attracted more than 200 exhibitors and sponsors.

BroadbandPlus will open up with a one-on-one interview with Comcast Corp. President Brian Roberts. Roberts has been tapped to run the newly combined AT&T Comcast unit, once the merger is approved, which will most likely be before the exhibit hall opens for business.

Other speakers will include executives from various MSOs, cable programmers and hardware and software providers. On the MSO side, AT&T Broadband's Cameron Gough, Cox Communications' Lynne Elander and Charter Communications' Curt Shaw will participate.

The Society of Cable and Telecommunications Engineers has once again organized this year's technical sessions, which will address hot topics including accommodating home networking, HDTV and rolling out streaming multimedia services. "SCTE's technical sessions will offer engineers and non-engineers alike a better understanding of the technical developments and trends driving consumer services," said John Clark, SCTE president and CEO. "Industry technology changes quickly--this is a great opportunity for broadband pros to get up-to-speed on what's new and important."

Fourteen industry associations also have signed up to participate in the show, including American Film Institute, Cabletelevision Advertising Bureau, Cable Television Laboratories, Cable& Telecommunications Association for Marketing, ITV Alliance, MPEG-4 Industry Forum, National Association of Minorities in Communications and Women in Cable and Telecommunications.
