VOD, unicast, cloud computing – no matter what you’re doing, you’re adding more equipment that is faster and denser . And that gear generates significant heat and imposes considerable data-center cooling requirements. Traditional HVAC/CRAC equipment is proving increasingly cost-ineffective and inefficient – using air as a heat exchange medium can account for up to half the energy consumed by the data center. Further, it limits cabinet, frame and rack density because it cannot effectively cool equipment that is spaced closely together.
There is a better way: “Phase change” or “two-phase” pumped refrigerant cooling. Pumping refrigerant cooling through micro-channel heat exchangers yields a coefficient of performance (COP) of up to 40 times greater than current single-phase methods and uses up to 90 percent less energy. Going “green” has never been easier.
Participants will learn how to:
- Decrease energy costs – due to the decreased need for supplemental air conditioning units
- Maximize space utilization within the data center
- Eliminate the need for hot and cold aisles and isolated high-power cabinets/racks
- Minimize the need for specially conditioned rooms for data centers
- Address eco-sustainability requirements/issues
- Reduce carbon footprint
- Reduce energy consumption
