Openet said today that Canadian cable operator Videotron has selected its FusionWorks Convergent Mediation product.

According to Openet, its platform was picked to replace a competitive mediation product that was failing.

"The Canadian cable market is heating up, and we needed a flawless, scalable mediation solution to support our data, video and voice business," said Andre Gascon, vice president, 3G and wireless technologies, Videotron . "We had to find a solution that could answer our growing customer demand without any negative impact. Openet's Convergent Mediation product fits the bill perfectly, and the FusionWorks Product Suite enables us to add solutions that will grow with our business."

Openet said Convergent Mediation product lets cable operators to capture benefits now and in the future -- especially when migrating to improved systems, as necessitated by cable’s continually-heightened feature innovation.

Videotron Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Quebecor Media and Canada’s third-largest cable operator, became the first large North American cable operator to deploy a DOCSIS 3.0-powered wideband broadband service earlier this year (see story here).
