Vecima’s Q2 sales hit high mark
By Brian Santo
CedMagazine.com - February 15, 2008

Vecima Networks hit a company record for quarterly revenue in its second quarter, ended Dec. 31, with sales of $27.4 million, an increase of 18 percent year-over-year.

That figure is in Canadian dollars. The company said that had the Canadian dollar not strengthened recently against the U.S. dollar – it is now almost at parity, trading today at $0.99 to the U.S. dollar – then Vecima would have reported $30.8 million in sales.

Chairman and CEO Surinder Kumar said the company is well positioned and has been negotiating the market well. "We are highly confident that Vecima will meet our announced sales growth expectation of 20 percent to 30 percent for the 2008 fiscal year,” he said.

The company said that in December, a major U.S. MSO began the testing and technical certification of Vecima’s HyperQAM Universal edgeQAM for switched digital video (SDV) applications. The HyperQAM was also delivered to a South Korean partner for technical evaluation aimed at South Korean providers nearing deployment of pre-DOCSIS 3.0 Wideband for channel-bonded DOCSIS services.

During the quarter, the company also notched wins for its WiMAX products and its reverse path demodulator product.
