VGI Solutions issued patent related to cable leakage/ingress technology
By Traci Patterson
CedMagazine.com - February 22, 2008

Earlier this week, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office approved the issuance of a patent for VGI Solutions that covers core technology – including georeferenced fault detection, storage, and management system and method, based on an application server architecture – for monitoring cable leakage and ingress events on broadband cable networks.

The patent strengthens VGI Solutions’ intellectual property portfolio and gives the company ownership of innovations that address critical aspects of broadband network maintenance, the company said.

VGI Solutions’ CPATTM leakage monitoring system houses the patented technologies. The CPATTM can accurately identify leakage/ingress events without any cable technician intervention. CPATTM provides definite, measurable improvements over traditional audit patrol methods that use dedicated technical resources and vehicles.

“We are committed to continuing the development of geotechnologies, which will enable cable operators to increase the efficiency of their preventive maintenance programs related to leakage/ingress monitoring,” said Daniel Babeux, VP of business development, broadband networks for VGI Solutions.

Since 1995, VGI Solutions has been offering leakage/ingress patrol services, and the company is currently serving a number of MSOs in North America.
