SureWest appoints former Everest CTO to VP, GM of operations
By Traci Patterson
CedMagazine.com - February 22, 2008

SureWest Communications has named Ken Johnson as the VP and GM of operations for Everest Broadband Inc.

He will report to SureWest’s SVP and COO Fred Arcuri, and he will oversee all day-to-day operations of Everest from its division headquarters in Lenexa, Kan.

Johnson most recently served as the CTO of Everest. Before joining Everest in 2000, Johnson served as Aquila’s director of network architecture and distributed computing.

In December, SureWest expanded outside its Sacramento bounds and acquired 100 percent of the stock of Everest for $173 million (story here). The transaction closed on Feb. 13.

Everest is a competitive provider of high-speed data, video and voice services in the greater Kansas City area. The transaction more than doubles SureWest’s triple-play residential base and facilitates the rapid expansion of its business services.
