SureWest selects ADB’s HD, AVC IPTV DVRs
By Traci Patterson
CedMagazine.com - April 24, 2008

Advanced Digital Broadcast (ADB) has been selected by SureWest Communications to supply high-definition (HD), Advanced Video Coding (AVC) ADB-5810WX IPTV digital video recorders (DVRs).

ADB’s DVRs allow SureWest to offer its customers new features, including access to both HD and standard-definition (SD) channels; the ability to pause, rewind and playback live TV; and the ability to record two MPEG-4 HD channels while watching another from the integrated hard disk drive.

ADB’s 5810WX is fully compatible with SureWest’s digital TV service. The DVRs incorporate SD and HD television reception, are based on MPEG-2 and H.264/MPEG-4 AVC and enable access to a range of value-added IP services, such as video-on-demand (VOD) and video conferencing. The DVRs can also act as a ‘home server’ for a home entertainment network.

SureWest’s bundled residential and commercial offerings include IPTV, high-speed Internet, fixed telephony and wireless PCS services. The operator’s fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP), IP-based network features 50 HD channels and symmetrical Internet speeds of up to 50 Mbps.
