RGB’s products chosen by Crosslake for digital upgrade
By Traci Patterson
CedMagazine.com - June 18, 2008

RGB Networks’ Broadcast Network Processor (BNP), Simulcast Edge Processor (SEP) and Modular Media Converter (MMC) have been deployed by Crosslake Communications as part of a digital video upgrade.

RGB’s MMC is used to aggregate channels delivered to Crosslake’s headend via satellite. These channels are then combined with off-air channels and all are rate shaped by a BNP to reduce the bandwidth requirements of each program without impacting picture quality, the company said.

And to support Crosslake’s remaining analog subscribers, the SEP converts the digital programs to analog prior to distribution over the network.

“Whether it’s upgrading a headend or launching video services for the first time, RGB backs up its full line of MPEG-2 and MPEG-4/H.264 solutions with extensive pre- and post-sales support and engineering and technical assistance to help our customers succeed,” said Lou Mastrocola, VP of sales for RGB.

Crosslake Communications is a municipally owned telecom provider in Crosslake, Minn. The company provides a full suite of telecommunications services, including Internet, cable and digital TV, and fixed and mobile telephony services.
