RCN expands business phone offerings

Today, RCN rolled out a new suite of hosted phone services that were targeted at businesses.

The new suite of services, which is called RCN TalkWare, is a VoIP service that allows business employees to customize their phone service.

"Successful businesses today need both a reliable high-speed Internet connection and a phone system that's flexible, easy to maintain, provides productivity-improving features and is affordably priced,” said John Baker, senior vice president of marketing and product management . “With the launch of RCN TalkWare, we'll be able to provide an enterprise-class leading edge phone service, as well. RCN TalkWare  is an end-to-end digital solution that is hosted on our network, which can cut phone-related expenses dramatically, without the complexity of a traditional on-site solution."

RCN TalkWare allows business employees to customize their preferences through a Web portal that can be accessed from a PC.  For each seat in an organization, customers can configure call type permissions, feature sets and messaging. According to Baker, it's as simple as point and click, and it's mobile. Users can go anywhere on the job or manage a mobile workforce and still keep connected to the business and its contacts.

The platform also has caller ID, call waiting, three-way calling and auto attendant, among other features. Auto attendant can manage call routing options, including dialing an extension, call transfer, and access to an available line in a specific department so a caller is never left unattended.
