Qwest Communications added only 95,000 broadband customers in its recently completed fourth quarter, compared with an increase of 165,000 in the fourth quarter a year ago. Qwest now has a total of 2.6 million broadband subscribers.

Qwest added 44,000 DirecTV subscribers in the quarter to end the year with a total of 649,000 video subscribers, an increase of 58 percent in total video customers from the end of 2006.

The company said bundle penetration increased to 62 percent in the quarter, compared with 57 percent a year ago.

The company brought in $366 million in revenues in the quarter, up from $194 million in Q4 2006. Income for 2007 was $2.9 billion, up from $593 million in 2006. The increases were attributed to growth in video and data services.

The company said it will continue investing in broadband upgrades – largely fiber-to-the-node (FTTN) technology, which will allow it to offer download speeds of up to 20 Mbps.
