Popcorn selects TVN for VOD distribution, asset management
By Traci Patterson
CedMagazine.com - February 27, 2008

TVN Entertainment Corp. has been selected by Popcorn Home Entertainment to provide video on-demand (VOD) distribution and asset management services to support Popcorn's VOD/DVD movie service.

Popcorn enables consumers to watch new movie releases on their TV screens, on-demand, on the first day of DVD release; then, within a few days, DVDs of the watched movies are shipped to the consumers. Consumers are able to instantly view the titles that they buy, and the movies are available to watch on-demand for 24 hours.

TVN will provide the distribution and asset management for Popcorn's catalog. The company supports an open, advanced technology platform and offers an end-to-end solution for licensing, managing, distributing and marketing on-demand content to virtually any platform.

Earlier this month, Cablevision Systems struck a deal with Popcorn that will allow the MSO to deliver some VOD movies on the same day that the movies are available on DVD (story here).
