XCast Labs auto-provisions Arris’ EMTAs

XCast Labs said it can now automatically provision the full lineup of Arris’ EMTAs, and the company announced a customer win with Private Network Cable (PNC) Television in New York City.

PNC Television is using XCast VoIP for its digital phone service launch.

“The Private Network HFC system passes some 20,000 potential MDU subscribers, and we plan to roll out the PNC Digital Voice product across our entire New York City footprint,” said Wayne Gordon, PNC’s director of engineering . "We evaluated a number of solutions during our trials; the ease of customer turn-up was a leading factor in our selection of XCast, and its product fit perfectly in line with our technical objectives.”

Arris makes two, four, eight and 12-line EMTAs for providing VoIP service to end-users, from residential to small business. XCast said it provides branded, hosted VoIP service to nearly 20 cable operators across the nation, almost all of which have chosen the Arris EMTA as their device of choice to provide all triple-play services.

“Our ability to auto-provision Arris devices at no charge to the cable operator sets XCast apart in the industry, as all other providers charge for managing even the voice side of the EMTA,” XCast Labs CEO Cliff Rees said.

The announcements were made yesterday at the NCTC Winter Educational Conference in Long Beach, Calif.
