Clearwire refills executive ranks
By Brian Santo
CedMagazine.com - November 06, 2009

Clearwire continues to re-jigger its executive lineup, bringing on two senior vice presidents – one to take care of technology development, the other to handle online operations.

The company hired David Maquera, late of Cricket/Leap, as senior vice president and chief strategy officer, responsible for technology development, strategic planning and implementation.

Some of Maquera’s responsibilities were previously handled by Scott Richardson, formerly Clearwire’s chief strategy officer, who left the company a few months ago.

Clearwire also named Thomas Enraght-Moony, former CEO of Match.com, senior vice president and general manager of Clear Online . He will take over marketing duties from Atish Gude, who is leaving the company “to pursue new opportunities.” Enraght-Moony will oversee all advertising and marketing activities, as well as the company’s online sales and customer management, Clearwire said.

Maquera had been vice president of strategic development for Cricket Communications/Leap Wireless, responsible for development of the wireless broadband product, strategic partnerships and spectrum acquisitions.

He had also served at Cricket/Leap as CIO and vice president of product engineering. He was a co-founder and executive vice president of product and technology for Backwire, a media and technology start-up acquired by Leap in 2001.

Prior to joining Match.com, Enraght-Moony was director, and then vice president, of eCommerce at AT&T Wireless. Before AT&T Wireless, he held a number of product, marketing and business development positions at E*Trade. Enraght-Moony started his career as a software developer at Accenture.

The company recently hired Teresa Elder, an executive with experience in both the wireless and cable industries, as president of strategic partnerships and wholesale.
