Canby Telcom, which has been getting its video from SES Americom’s IP-Prime, will switch over to EchoStar Satellite Services. Late last year, SES-Americom announced it would be shutting down IP-Prime by the end of July.
Canby Telcom has about 8,000 customers in and around Canby, Ore., just south of Portland . The company signed up with EchoStar Satellite Services for the latter’s ViP-TV video transport service. Canby Telcom will be getting up to 42 channels of high-definition video directly from EchoStar.
EchoStar's IP-Prime Conversion Program provides qualified customers with EchoStar's ViP-TV transport service, replacement IDC satellite receivers and a standard professional installation, including compatible LNBs, a satellite dish re-point, cabling and connectors.
Canby Telcom provides data, communications and entertainment services to more than 8,000 customers. The 104-year-old cooperative has approximately 10,000 telephone access lines and offers more than 200 TV channels, an interactive program guide, video-on-demand, pay-per-view and Caller ID on TV.
