In the media: Hitch in Cisco-Tandberg deal

Almost one-quarter of the shareholders in Tandberg ASA have rejected Cisco’s buyout offer of $3 billion, in the belief that the operation is worth more.

These shareholders are looking to Cisco to sweeten its offer, or for another company to outbid Cisco, according to multiple reports quoting the Swedish bank representing the shareholders.

Cisco has issued a statement that says it has offered a “fair price” and has no other comment.

TWC names Miller, Whaley VPs in reorg

Time Warner Cable has named Scott Miller and Rick Whaley as vice presidents of technical operations in northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania.

The division has been reorganized into two service areas: metro, encompassing greater Akron and Cleveland, and suburban, including Erie, Pa.

Miller will manage the metro area, and Whaley the suburban . Both will oversee the area management team and employees by maintaining subscriber growth goals, customer service standards and financial targets.

Synacor makes May SVP

Synacor has promoted Ted May to senior vice president of strategy and business affairs.

May has served as vice president of content and vice president of strategy and business affairs during more than four years with Synacor. His new position will entail shaping corporate strategy and identifying and securing the partnerships that can accelerate Synacor’s success in new market areas.

Prior to joining Synacor in 2005, May served as vice president of broadband with America Online and was director of strategic planning and vice president of new media with Cablevisions Systems.

Miranda names Brice SVP of U.S. sales

Miranda Technologies has named Richard Brice to the new role of senior vice president of U.S. sales.

Richard will manage Miranda’s sales team nationwide. Prior to this position, Brice was Miranda’s European managing director, and also president of the Asian division at an earlier stage.

Prior to working at Miranda, Richard held senior engineering positions at several television equipment manufacturers.
