• TWC rings up 4-millionth phone subscriber

Time Warner Cable, the nation’s second-largest cable operator, said that it recently signed up its 4-millionth residential digital phone subscriber.
“Reaching this milestone is testament to the fact that customers look for communication solutions that are simple and easy,” said Time Warner Cable Chairman, President and CEO Glenn Britt . “The combination of having one bill for a bundle of Time Warner Cable products and the inclusion of innovative features such as Caller ID on TV continues to drive the growth and success of this product.”
Time Warner Cable is the nation’s sixth-largest phone provider, and its digital phone service is available throughout Time Warner Cable’s footprint.
• Actiontec debuts new VDSL2 modem

Today, Actiontec Electronics announced the debut of its Q1000 Wireless N VDSL Modem Router. Actiontec said the router, which is the latest addition to the company’s line of triple-play VDSL2/ADSL2+ Universal DSL Wireless Gateways, has a Wireless N radio, Gigabit Ethernet switch and large amounts of memory.
While most modems on the market provide a single 32-bit processor and limited memory, the Q1000 features a dual-core 32-bit processor, 32 MB Flash and 64 MB SDRAM. The router can simultaneously support a wide range of demanding multimedia applications, including HDTV, Voice over Wi-Fi, media sharing and online gaming.
“As consumers continue to drive the demand for a richer online experience, carriers are continually looking for ways to deliver faster speeds and more entertainment and communication options,” said Brian Henrichs, vice president of business development at Actiontec Electronics. “The Q1000 offers a new standard in home router performance, and ensures that bandwidth-hungry, multi-tasking consumers have all the processing power they need today and tomorrow.”
