Mushroom broadband bonding adds cellular to mix
By Brian Santo
CedMagazine.com - March 25, 2008

Mushroom Networks now has cellular wireless broadband access support for its Truffle Broadband Bonding Network Appliance (BBNA).

The truffle unit can bond up to six disparate high-speed Internet connections, including cable modem service, forming a virtual broadband pipe with aggregate speeds of up to 65 Mbps.

Mushroom says the bonding works without requiring coordination with the ISPs or any changes to the local network. Since the bonding is single-sided, the solution does not require any mating equipment or software at the ISP premises.

The Ethernet-based solution installs between the broadband modems and the local network at the customer’s premises and supports port-forwarding, static IP, dynamic IP, PPPoE, DHCP, DMZ, UPnP, Dynamic DNS and other Internet services.

Compatibility with cellular broadband networks is achieved with the inclusion of a PCMCIA port, which can hold cards that will pick up signals from EV-DO, HSPA, EDGE or GPRS networks.

The TRUFFLE BBNA6411 with cellular wireless access capability is now shipping with a list price of $3,195.
