Mushroom Networks is introducing a new hosted service that bonds Internet access lines to offer a symmetrical service with combined transmission rates that it says exceed T1 speeds – with monthly cost savings of up to 70 percent compared with a traditional T1 service.
The service consists of a customer premises equipment (CPE) unit housing up to six broadband connections (of any type, mixing-and-matching allowed) installed at the subscriber’s site . All broadband connections are then bonded together, forming a single high-speed Internet connection.
Mushroom said its new service targets business-class customers but can also be hosted by Internet Service Providers (ISPs) providing the market with the T1 replacement technology.
“Mushroom's Broadband Bonding Service is based on a unique technology that enables Internet Service Providers to bring true bonding services to their customer base. Unlike legacy bonding approaches, with our solution, ISPs can provide bonded services, both in uplink and downlink, without any upgrades in their core networks,” said Cahit Akin, co-founder and CEO of Mushroom Networks.
“By merging multiple inexpensive broadband connections together, our new service surpasses T1 by providing extremely fast broadband both in the downlink and uplink directions, supporting business-critical applications such as reliable IP voice communications, and enabling accelerated VPN access for telecommuters and other off-site customers,” Akin said.
Mushroom Networks’ Broadband Bonding Service is available now for a monthly fee of $50, excluding the cost of the CPE. Service providers interested in hosting their own Broadband Bonding Service should contact Mushroom Networks directly.
